Wishin' and Hopin'

I was born and raised in South Florida where seasonal changes are subtle: like, it's not quite as hot (fall) and it's a little warmer (spring). The only exception being, "HOLY MACARONI I'm MELTING! (summer).
Here in Texas it's more clearly defined, and I’m watching like a hawk for spring 'cause I've been ready for weeks. I can't wait to leave behind the layered look and all its effort … shedding layers like I was divesting myself of Citi Group stock, only to reverse the process to make the trip home.
So, I'm on the lookout for the harbingers I was introduced to during my first Texas spring: baby blades of grass, tiny buds on the oaks that will explode overnight into leaves, the blue bonnets breaking the earth ceiling, and the sparrow returning once again to rebuild it's nest in one of our hanging plants.

The influence that spring's anticipation is having on me is palpable. I am once again drawn to bright fabrics with a strong lean toward blues and greens. I’m even working on a new quilt for my bedroom which is definitely much less subdued than the one that’s in there now. Also with the introduction of Lily of the Valley and Spring Fling even my pantographs have wandered back to a happy floral feel.

I just love that almost electric feeling as everything plugs back in, each at their own pace, and starts to glow that gives that annual jump-start for me to create anew.
