Whacked-Out Stars

This quilt is named after the method of construction as well as from its final appearance. It's fun quilt to make either large or small, and great as a gift that you don’t want to spend the next decade making!

Block size:     10” Finished

Quilt size:     40” x  60” without borders,
                    44” x  64” with pieced borders
                    52” x 72”  with unpieced borders

Included are instructions for a 52” x 72” quilt with optional unpieced inner and outer borders, and for changing the size.

Fabric Requirements:

For Scrappy quilt:
    Backgrounds:    1/3 yard each of 12 fabrics
    Stars:               1/4 yard each of 12 fabrics
                               ( can use large scraps instead )
    
For quilt using all one background:
    Background:     3 yards
    Stars:              1/4 yard each of 12 fabrics

    For optional unpieced borders:
    Inner border:     3/8 yard
    Outer border: 1 7/8 yards, cut lengthwise or
                        1 1/8 yards, cut crosswise

    Backing:       3 1/4 yards, seamed crosswise or
                        4 1/4 yards, seamed lengthwise
    
    Binding:         1/2 yard

Other Supplies: 12 1/2” square ruler
